Hi, I have a Yamaha DGX-505 keyboard that I wanted to use in GarageBand. It has a USB out on the back of it, so I thought the Mac might recognize it if I just plugged it in from the keyboard to the Mac, but the OS doesn't even recognize it. I know I'm probably doing something wrong. (and I'm new to using instruments with my Mac) Could someone please give me a little direction on how to make this work. I was considering buying a mixer board that has multiple connections such as a microphone in, USB, etc. Is that what I need to make the computer see the keyboard. I use a Logitech USB headset all the time with Skype, and I just plug that right into my USB hub with no problem.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks :D

Did you install the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver for Mac OS X?

You can get it here:

Thanks Cory,
Yeah, I found that after I posted, ........so I downloaded it and installed it, bit it didn't solve my problem. I did go into the Midi setup, and saw it there.....but the OS still doesn't have it as an "input" device. I launched GarageBand to see if it would maybe show up there even though it wasn't listed as an input device, but no, it didn't.
Hmmmmmmm......

Well, I'll work on it and try to look around some more.
It's probably something I am doing wrong, and will stumble on it down the road, I hope.
:)
