Looks cool. Has anyone tried it? Hourly backups by TM are not a problem for me, so I'm in no hurry to try this. I suggest one of you try it first :)

Except for hourly disk activity I don't see a disadvantage to letting Time Machine do it's thing on it's schedule.

The misconception about hourly backups taking a lot of disk space is only true for a day or so since TM consolidates the Hourlys in to Dailys.

To me it is nice to know that I cannot lose more than an hour's worth of work.

That's what I was thinking; good point. Apple knew what it was doing when coding TM.

As a follow up for general info, I have a 160GB TM drive (153GB available) that I use to back up my 70GB system.

My usage is browsing, email, podcasts and some light application work. I have been doing hourly TM backups virtually every hour (except when it sleeps at night) since May 16 when I got the new iMac.

I have excluded my Download and Podcast folders since they change so often and the podcasts are a one time thing, backed up on my iPhone and constantly changing.

As of this morning I still have 27GB of space available on the TM drive until it starts deleting the old backups. At this rate I don't expect that to happen for many months!
