clean up content in iPhone

I plan to sell my 3GS and join the 4S family but want to be sure I clean up all my personal stuffs inside the 3GS. Any suggestion for a good method?

just connect to iTunes and backup (to transfer to 4S) and then restore in iTunes.

I guess it depends how paranoid you are / need to be with regards to how secure this method is. This is probably going to be more than enough to prevent 99.9% of people retrieving anything from your phone
