Well, the ol' 106 doesn't support dual layer but I can now rip at 12x! Better than nothing. I guess my next gift to myself might be a dual layer burner sometime in the future when they get a tad cheaper and I find one that will definitely work!

Been using my flashed 117 for a month now without any problems...Found some 4x media that works fine toasting at 10x speed

iTunes YES, don't know about iLife 05 cause i don't have it...

Hi,

I am a little confused by this my drive is the exact drive mentioned the 117d although i am unsure as wich patch i should apply..

i am using the command

./DVRFlash -f PIONEER R8100008.114

but i always get the same error with either version of the firmware

Only Kernel firmware was supplied
Continue because force option was specified
Firmware and Drive type mismatch

Or do i need to do this on a pc ?

Sorry I have this figured it out now you must specify both files as the drives require both.

BTW works just GREAT :-D

Hi,

Just updated my G5 DP2.5

The drive appears to work correctly with itunes although i have not yet had chance to burn a dvd.... i will let you know soon.

Also when you check the system profiler and look at the properties of the drive it lists it as being a supported burner.

(now tried this with toast burning a dvd and it has worked correctly) the next callenge is a dual layer disk but i won;t be doing that untill i need to due to price.

Is the DVR-117 the same thing as a DVR-107?
I have a DVR-107D in my PowerMac.
