Hi all. I work in a Japanese Windows world, complicated further by proxy settings and paranoia. I have been able to access my iDisk at work for a while, but suddenly cannot. Was never able to sync it. I imagine it has something to do with security and proxy servers. I am going to go and talk with my IT dept., I clueless bunch of folks who were unable to find employment elsewhere. I would like to go with as much information as possible. I guess I ought to know something about ports, and which ones MobileMe uses for iDisk and so on. Any advice from you guys is welcome. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I CAN access my iDisk files from Safari, and am very pleased with how fast I can upload and download. So this is the obvious workaround, and a pretty fast one at that. Just involves more steps (download file, save, upload file)

Thanks, Bmer. Knowledge is power.

Some more details. I am able to mount my iDisk, and from that drag and drop to download files. I can open files from iDisk, although opening Word files takes forever and often freezes things up. I cannot drag and drop to upload files. I wind up getting the error message "The operation cannot be completed because the item (the file) is in use". I cannot open a file from iDisk, work on it, then save it. I wait for a few minutes, then get a message telling me there is no space or some such nonsense. I used to be able to do these things, albeit slowly. Maybe they're fussing with the server. At any rate, I am able to upload and download from Safari. Weird.

from reading those posts, if webdav uses port 80, you could use transmit to access idisk day to day. that's generally how i upload and download from idisk anyway. even though i have no problems accessing my synced idisk, i find it faster than using the synced one.

WebDAV does indeed use port 80. I have been using Transmit to access my iDisk for years. It is extremely fast and stable.

Thanks, all.

Don't know if this is relevant, but I tried Go>Connect to Server, then the http://test.webdav.org/dav thing, but I get the message that "You cannot connect to this server because it cannot be found on the network"

Anyway, I downloaded Transmit, and am able to access my iDisk from it. But the upload feature is not enabled in the trial version. I could buy it (and may have bought it on my computer at home), but am wondering if I will be able to upload (I mean, that http://test.webdav.org/dav thing didn't work)

Tried messing with Fetch to see if that would work, but couldn't seem to connect.

Like I said, I am able to upload through Safari (MobileMe login>iDisk), but I have a large file I want to upload from school, and that cannot be done through Safari (easily, if at all).

My bad. I CAN upload and download with the trial version of Transmit. And it does work fine. So if I haven't already bought it (I'll check at home), I will buy it soon.

Kind of strange though that I lost this functionality at school.

Thanks, everybody.
